i am not a farmer, but i do love fresh produce. especially tomatoes.
when i moved to pittsburgh, i moved into a community of people. and they have held me and embraced me in this stage of life. a few weeks ago, i said, "i really need to be outside more, i need a project." "i need a garden." and they laughed and bought the supplies. what more could i ask for?

steph, ethan and i dug out the space a few weeks ago and yesterday, kevin built this. . .
the scaffolding of our new garden. it is a garden on a roof but below the porch. . . .
a very special location for what will hopefully be a very special garden.
we are all having visions of heirloom tomatoes and hybrid peppers. i suppose living with 2 farmers does lay a certain expectation about the kind of vegetables that should be available in august.

katie will be proud! alice, i'm so glad you're blogging... so fun to find your blog! it inspires me - maybe i'll start again. i hope you are well.
ReplyDeleteOHHH, I can see those tomatoes already...if you go to www.gardeners.com, you can get an idea of how to space the plants in the garden.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting! That really does seem the perfect spot! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so weird...I can't leave comments with the Mozilla browser but I can with Safari. Very weird. At least I've figured it out!
ReplyDeleteso why is the post "not-a-farmer"? It may not be a 300 acre farm....but it is for East Liberty!!! :) I look forward to hearing more...
